back in the late 60"s to the late 70"s my family lived on lowther point in the green cottage. i have alot of good memiones of living there. been in the original house and i can still see the inside with my eyes closed . the house was beautiful with old antiques. my favorite roon was the florida roon that overlook the back yard. one thing i remember is when george the 4th had a party he would put the flag out by the front door. it was a shame to tare it down .the house went from floor the floor. everyone will have there memiones of lowther point.

Thank you for posting the information. I have learned a great deal from your research on Lamb and Rich. I really appreciate it. The Butler Manor Civic, Tottenville Historical Society and Preservation League of Staten Island are urging NYC Landmarks to calendar a public hearing to the Butler Manor House. The interior is beautiful, but landmarks is more concerned about the changes to the exterior. Part of the original estate includes the Butler Manor woods, which is behind the house and a Bluebelt /state parkland. One of the cottages/gatehouse survives on Hylan Blvd and may be saved.

I believe they are the same, although I have not confirmed it. The present house seems to be the one described in Leng's Staten Island and Its People as being built on Hylan Boulevard after Butler's ca. 1885 frame house burned. “Out of Town,” Real Estate Record and Builders’ Guide 45:1151 (5 April 1890), 480 reports that Lamb & Rich have drawn plans for a two-story and attic frame dwelling of 35x75 feet with an ell to be built for Elmer Butler in Richmond Valley facing Sandy Hook.
