The caption reads "Packing Hanover Crackers, Smith & Son, White River Jc. Vt." The card is postmarked 1909. E.K. Smith bought a Hanover bakery and built a row of three buildings on the east side of Main Street to house it and his family; the northernmost, now the Native Americans at Dartmouth House (1852) survives . The Cracker and Candy Company built this two-story White River Junction factory in 1871.
